 |
purpose
of
this
website
is
to
celebrate
the
golden
era
of
hockey
in
the
west.
This
is
the
legacy
of
Frank
and
Lester
Patrick
and
the
leagues
they
operated.
They
were
the
patriarchs
of
hockey's
royal
family.
Although
there
are
few
physical
remains
of
the
Pacific
Coast
Hockey
Association
and
the
Western
Canadian
Hockey
League,
these
leagues,
and
the
Patrick's,
have
had
an
incredible
influence
on
the
NHL
of
today.
They
were
innovators.
Many
contributions
such
as
the
blue
line,
recording
of
assists,
penalty
shot,
and
the
playoff
system,
are
directly
attributable
to
them.
As
well
as
that
two
teams
from
those
long
forgotten
leagues
are
still
active
in
the
NHL
today.
Now
known
as
the
Detroit
Red
Wings
and
Chicago
Blackhawks.
This
site
is
an
internet
museum
of
these
teams
and
leagues.
It
will
include
essays,
statistics,
team
logos,
artistic
renderings
of
team
sweaters,
and
links
to
other
historically
based
hockey
sites.
Content
will
change
and
grow
with
time.
